Fortnite OG
Fortnite Chapter 4 Season OG
Season overview
Time Travel and Nostalgia
Fortnite OG launched on November 3, 2023, as a massive, month-long mini-season that sent players back in time to the original Chapter 1 map. Following the events of Chapter 4 Season 4, players used a time machine to return to the exact state of Chapter 1, Season 5. The season was a monumental success, breaking all-time concurrent player records with over 44 million players logging in on its launch weekend. What made Fortnite OG unique was its rapid progression. Each week, the map, loot pool, and vehicles updated to reflect a different era of Chapter 1's history—moving from Season 5, through the Darkness Rises era of Season 6, the winter and pirate themes of Seasons 7 & 8, and finally the futuristic chaos of Seasons 9 & X. While the map and weapons were classic, Epic Games retained modern movement mechanics like sprinting, mantling, and sliding, ensuring the gameplay still felt fluid. The season concluded with "The Big Bang" live event, a massive multiverse spectacle featuring an Eminem concert and the reveal of three entirely new games within Fortnite (LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival), effectively closing the book on Chapter 4 and catapulting the game into Chapter 5.
