Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3
Resumen de la temporada
Flooded Island and Summer
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3, titled "Splashdown," launched on June 17, 2020. Following the events of The Device in Season 2, the massive wall of water surrounding the island collapsed, resulting in a completely flooded map. The season was heavily defined by its dynamic map. At launch, much of the island was submerged, with players relying on boats, ziplines, and floating platforms to navigate. Over the course of the season, the water levels periodically receded, gradually revealing old locations and brand-new POIs hidden beneath the depths. Gameplay evolved with the introduction of Loot Sharks, which players could ride using a Fishing Rod, and the addition of fire physics, allowing wooden structures to burn. Later in the season, the "Joy Ride" update fundamentally changed Fortnite mobility forever by introducing fully drivable cars and trucks to the Battle Royale island.

Landmarks, locations and changes that shaped this season.
The map was heavily flooded. The Agency was rebuilt as The Authority (a heavily fortified compound guarded by Jules). New locations included The Fortilla (a floating trash-town), Rickety Rig, and Catty Corner. As water receded over the weeks, a massive new Atlantis-themed POI named Coral Castle was revealed in the northwest.

Gameplay & Mechanics
Loot Sharks could be hooked with a fishing rod to pull players like a waterski. Fire mechanics were introduced, allowing items like Firefly Jars to burn down player builds and trees. Fully drivable cars (sedans, trucks, sports cars, and taxis) and radio stations were added in the Joy Ride update.
