Fortnitemares 2026 begins October 1 with FNAF, Pumpkin and Vampire Sprites, new gameplay, map changes, Halloween weapons, collaborations and more.

Fortnitemares 2026 begins tomorrow, October 1, with Fortnite's v42.30 update, kicking off what is shaping up to be one of the game's biggest Halloween celebrations yet. Five Nights at Freddy's, new Halloween Sprites, spooky map changes, Match Overrides, returning weapons and several collaborations are all part of the growing Fortnitemares lineup.

Five Nights at Freddy's Comes to Fortnite

One of the biggest attractions is Fortnite's Five Nights at Freddy's collaboration. Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy are part of the crossover, while the Fortnitemares trailer also points toward FNAF-themed gameplay and a fully developed Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria location.

Players should also watch for FNAF-related encounters during Fortnitemares. Reports surrounding the update suggest animatronic enemies may be able to transform and hunt players, although the exact mechanics should become clearer once v42.30 is live.

New Fortnitemares Sprites

Sprites are getting a major Halloween expansion. Two of the clearest additions are the Pumpkin Sprite and Vampire Sprite, both of which have already been shown ahead of the update.

  • Vampire Sprite: Reportedly restores white Health based on damage dealt, with the effect scaling as the Sprite levels up and potentially reaching 50% at maximum level.
  • Pumpkin Sprite: Reportedly develops a protective Pumpkin Head over time that can protect the player from headshot damage.
  • Trick or Treat Sprites: Expected to have a Halloween candy-related container mechanic.
  • Dumpster Dive Sprite: Reportedly helps find food from containers and hideable props, with stronger food rewards as it levels up.

Epic has revealed the Pumpkin and Vampire Sprite designs, but some ability details circulating before the update are based on datamined information and may change when the update launches.

New Gameplay, Weapons and Loot Hacks

Fortnitemares isn't only a cosmetic update. Several Halloween gameplay additions have been reported for v42.30, including a Rocket Ride Launcher featuring a rideable pumpkin rocket and a Pumpkin Head Match Override.

Halloween-themed Loot Hacks are also expected to become an important part of the update. Potential items associated with the rotation include the Chainsaw, Witch Broom, Wood Stake Shotgun and Dual Fiend Hunters. Because Loot Hack rotations and final item pools can change, the complete list should be confirmed once the update is live.

A Witch Broom-related Reload pocket item with a reported 35-second cooldown has also surfaced ahead of the update, alongside references to additional returning weapons and items.

Major Fortnitemares Map Changes

The Battle Royale island is getting a Halloween makeover as well. The location associated with the FNAF crossover is expected to become a fully built Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria, while Battlewoods is transforming into Gravegate.

The ongoing Geno storyline also appears to connect with the Halloween changes, with Geno's machine and its cables reaching toward Gravegate. Players have additionally spotted a mysterious face in the sky, suggesting that Fortnitemares could play a larger role in the season's story than a normal seasonal event.

More Fortnitemares Collaborations

FNAF isn't the only crossover connected to this year's event. Other characters and franchises reported for the wider Fortnitemares period include Freddy Krueger, Slender Man, Beetlejuice, Black Clover, The Purge, Ken Carson and Obsession, with additional content and collaborations expected throughout October.

Some of these collaborations may not arrive with the first October 1 update, so players shouldn't expect everything to appear on day one.

Fortnitemares Part 2 Expected October 15

Fortnitemares is expected to receive another major update on October 15. Datamined and reported content connected to this later update includes a possible League of Legends crossover featuring Ahri, the Phase Dash mechanic and additional island changes, including water taking on a purple appearance.

Because much of the October 15 content comes from pre-release information, exact features and release timing remain subject to change.

More October Rewards and Events

October is also expected to bring additional Fortnite rewards and releases around Fortnitemares. Gold Punk is associated with an October promotional release, Osric the Uninvited arrives through Fortnite Crew, and further Halloween cosmetics and quest content are expected during the month.

A Kado Thorne-themed Reload refresh and related rewards have also been reported for around October 8, although Epic Games has not officially confirmed that date.

Fortnitemares Begins October 1

Fortnitemares 2026 launches Thursday, October 1 with Fortnite v42.30. Epic has not confirmed every leaked feature listed ahead of the update, meaning some mechanics, collaborations and release dates could still change.

With FNAF, new Sprites, Halloween gameplay, major island changes and another update expected later in October, Fortnitemares 2026 is shaping up to be a packed Halloween event.
