Season overview

Summer and Party

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3, titled "Vibin'," launched on June 5, 2022. Following the stressful war against the IO, the island's inhabitants threw a massive, season-long party centered around the Reality Tree, which blossomed at the ruins of Command Cavern. The season focused heavily on a relaxed, summer atmosphere, introducing Reality Saplings that players could plant and weed across matches to grow high-tier loot. As the season progressed, the Reality Tree's roots spread across the island, altering existing POIs and cycling them through different visual themes (like ancient ruins, wild west, or neo-Tokyo) on a match-by-match basis. While the island partied, subtle story elements hinted at a dark new threat, with a strange metallic Chrome substance slowly beginning to consume characters and locations in the background, setting up the grim narrative of Season 4.

Landmarks, locations and changes that shaped this season.

Command Cavern was transformed into Rave Cave, a massive underground festival. The surrounding area became Reality Falls, a glowing, magical forest housing the massive Reality Tree. The IO Collider ruins were overgrown. Greasy Grove was overtaken by giant mushrooms. Later, the Reality Tree's roots spread to Logjam Lumberyard (becoming Logjam Lotus), Sleepy Sound, and Condo Canyon, causing these locations to randomly shift their visual themes every match.

How it played

Gameplay & Mechanics

Reality Saplings were introduced. Players could plant Reality Seeds that persisted across matches; by weeding them in subsequent games, the tree would grow and bear Mythic-tier loot. Rideable wildlife (wolves and boars) was introduced, allowing players to mount, sprint, and shoot while riding animals. Ballers were unvaulted and updated to run on battery power, functioning on the new Screwballer rollercoaster at Rave Cave.

Major new items included the Two-Shot Shotgun, the Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) with a scoped sight, the Hammer Assault Rifle, the Charge SMG, the Prime Shotgun, and the Ripsaw Launcher (which fired spinning saw blades to shred builds). The Grapple Glove was also introduced, functioning similarly to the previous season's Spider-Man Web-Shooters.

The 100-tier Battle Pass featured Evie (Tier 1), Snap (a highly customizable action figure requiring Tover Tokens to unlock parts), Adira, Stormfarer, Malik, Sabina, and the highly anticipated Darth Vader (Tier 100). The secret unlockable skin was Indiana Jones.

Live Event / Finale

There was no traditional end-of-season live event. Instead, the season ended as the mysterious Chrome substance began rapidly spreading and consuming the island in the background.
