Out of Time
Fortnite Chapter 1 Season X
Resumen de la temporada
Time Travel and Nostalgia
Fortnite Chapter 1 Season X (10), titled "Out of Time," launched on August 1, 2019, serving as a massive nostalgic celebration and explosive finale to the game's first chapter. Following the monster battle in Season 9, the exposed Zero Point orb at Loot Lake destabilized and exploded, fracturing time and space across the island. This temporal instability caused the meteor from Season 3 to freeze in the sky moments before impact and brought back the original Dusty Depot. Throughout the season, "Rift Zones" appeared, reviving classic Points of Interest but heavily altering them with bizarre gameplay twists (e.g., a Wild West Tilted Town where building and breaking were disabled, or a Moisty Palms where crouching turned players into props). The season was highly controversial in the competitive community due to the introduction of the B.R.U.T.E., a massive two-player mech that dominated the loot pool and sparked the massive "#RemoveTheMech" social media movement. The overarching narrative focused on The Visitor (revealed to be part of a mysterious group called "The Seven") constructing rockets at Dusty Depot. This culminated in "The End" event, a historic moment in gaming. The Seven crashed the frozen meteor directly into the Zero Point, triggering a cosmic anomaly that sucked the entire map, players, and even the UI into a massive Black Hole. Fortnite went completely offline and unplayable for nearly two days, permanently ending Chapter 1 and paving the way for Chapter 2.

Map & POI Changes
Landmarks, locations and changes that shaped this season.
Dusty Depot and the Meteor returned. As the season progressed, Rift Zones replaced areas: Neo Tilted became Tilted Town (and later Gotham City), Mega Mall reverted to Retail Row (with PvE zombies), Paradise Palms became Moisty Palms, Greasy Grove returned (with a forced taco dance mechanic), and Starry Suburbs appeared. Loot Lake became a low-gravity Zero Point zone.
How it played
Gameplay & Mechanics
Rift Zones completely altered core mechanics in specific POIs (disabling building, forcing prop disguises, or triggering random dance parties). The two-player B.R.U.T.E. mech dominated gameplay. Most mobility items (Ballers, Quadcrashers, Slipstreams) were vaulted to force map traversal via Rift Zones or mechs.

Season notes and items
B.R.U.T.E. mechs were the defining addition. Other major additions included the Junk Rift (dropped heavy objects from the sky like anchors or dinosaur statues), Shield Bubble, Zapper Trap, and Batman's Grapnel Gun and Explosive Batarang.

The 100-tier Battle Pass consisted entirely of "remixed" versions of classic Chapter 1 skins, including Catalyst (a female Drift), X-Lord (Rust Lord), Tilted Teknique, YOND3R, Sparkle Supreme, Eternal Voyager, and Ultima Knight (a heavily armored Black Knight). The secret skin was The Scientist.

Live Event / Finale
The End Event. On October 13, 2019, The Seven launched rockets into the sky, unfreezing the meteor and crashing it directly into the exposed Zero Point. This created a massive black hole that sucked in the entire map and game UI. The game remained unplayable for roughly 36 hours, displaying only a black hole screen.
