Underground
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1
Resumen de la temporada
Rebellion and Society
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1, titled "Underground," launched on December 3, 2023. Following the multiverse-shattering Big Bang event, players arrived on the brand new "Helios" island. The narrative focused on a conflict between The Society, a shadowy group of billionaires who kidnapped Peely, and The Underground, a rebellion led by Hope and Vengeance Jones striving to rescue him. This season introduced massive overhauls to core Battle Royale gameplay. Epic Games introduced Weapon Mod Benches inside heavily guarded Vaults, allowing players to customize their weapons with sights, extended magazines, underbarrels, and muzzles for the first time. The movement system received a complete visual and mechanical overhaul, adding new fluid animations and the ability to wall-kick and mantle more dynamically. To secure the best loot, players had to defeat five Society Bosses to claim their Medallions. Holding a Medallion slowly regenerated a player's shields but continuously broadcasted their location on the map, creating a high-risk, high-reward dynamic. The island also featured a fully functioning train that continuously circled the map, carrying loot and a hackable chest.

Map & POI Changes
Landmarks, locations and changes that shaped this season.
The new "Helios" island featured distinct biomes: a chaparral biome, a boreal forest, and snow-covered mountains. Key locations included Reckless Railways (a central train station), Lavish Lair (Oscar's mansion), Grand Glacier (Montague's hotel), Snooty Steppes (Peter Griffin's estate), and Fencing Fields (Nisha's domain). A moving Train traveled across the island's railway system, offering dynamic combat encounters.

Gameplay & Mechanics
Weapon Modding was introduced via Mod Benches found inside Vaults. Society Medallions dropped from bosses, granting shield regeneration at the cost of revealing the player's location. The movement system was overhauled with new animations. Match Quests replaced traditional Daily Quests, allowing players to select one specific objective at the start of a match.

Live Event / Finale
There was no traditional end-of-season live event. Instead, a massive Titan Hand emerged from the ground near Ruined Reels holding Pandora's Box. In a global community event, players worked together to shoot the chains holding the box, eventually dropping it and unleashing the horrors of Greek mythology for Season 2.
