Primal

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6, titled "Primal," launched on March 16, 2021. The season kicked off immediately after the Zero Crisis Finale, where The Foundation sealed the destabilized Zero Point inside a massive stone tower known as The Spire. This process sent a "Reality Wave" across the island, erasing advanced technology and transforming the center of the map into a prehistoric wilderness. Players were thrust into a survival-themed environment where they had to scavenge and craft to survive. For the first time, wild animals such as wolves, boars, chickens, frogs, and eventually deadly raptors roamed the island. Players could hunt these animals for resources or tame them to act as AI companions during matches. The core gameplay loop was heavily altered by the introduction of an extensive crafting system. Players often found weak "Makeshift" weapons as floor loot and had to harvest Animal Bones (from wildlife) or Mechanical Parts (from destroyed vehicles) to upgrade them into either high-damage Primal weapons or classic, accurate Mechanical weapons. This system forced players to actively hunt and harvest to secure their preferred loadouts.
